  1. Rubbing Alcohol – Rubbing alcohol is good at drying things up, which is why many people tend to think that it works well for getting rid of pimples. It is too hard on your skin, especially on a regular basis. Alcohol can remove the oil from the skin, which causes your skin itself to dry out. This can lead to unhealthy skin.
  2. Tanning – Despite what you may believe or what you may have been told, tanning doesn't work when it comes to clearing up your skin. If it did, everyone would have a very easy solution to their acne problems. The only thing that tanning does is temporarily hide your skin imperfections; it does not treat your acne.

3 At-Home DIY Treatments That Actually Work

  1. Green TeaGreen tea is full of antioxidants and has the ability to fight inflammation. In addition, green tea keeps your blood pressure and insulin levels in check, which helps to reduce the growth of acne. You can opt to drink green tea by the cup and promote healthy skin from within or you can use cooled green tea as a facial rinse.
  2. HoneyHoney is an excellent anti-bacterial agent that can help treat acne. Honey can be used all on its own by applying it directly to the face and massaging it in. Alternatively, you can take one cup of oatmeal and add half a cup of honey to it to create a face mask.
  3. Witch Hazel – Thanks to its antiseptic, anti-inflammatory, astringent and antioxidant properties, witch hazel has the ability to not only treat but also prevent skin blemishes. Despite being an astringent, it is actually gentle on the skin. You can mix one teaspoon of it with two teaspoons of honey or some clay powder to create a face mask. Another option is to mix one cup of witch hazel with one tablespoon of dried lavender and six drops of lavender essential oil to create a facial toner.
